Praying the Psalms- Psalm 59

Jenny has begun a journey of praying her way through the Psalms that I have decided to join. Each weekend, we will pray through one psalm and post our prayer and/or meditations on that psalm as the Lord leads. Check out her journey and join us in Praying the Psalms.

"O my Strength, I watch for you;
   you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God."  Psalm 59: 9-10a
"But I will sing of your strength,
   in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress,
   my refuge in times of trouble.
O my Strength, I sing praise to you;
   you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God."  Psalm 59: 16-17
I am learning how to watch for You, O Lord.  Learning how to see You even in the dark and painful places.  And how to understand the holes in my life as seeing through to You places, as Ann so beautifully puts it.  I am also learning how to come to You in the morning to sing of Your love and strength.  There are times, Lord, when my eyes are sharp and I see You everywhere.  There are times when my heart is steadfast and I faithfully meet You in the morning.

There are still too many times, though, when I fail to watch for You and instead fix my eyes on the circumstances.  And there are too many times when I value my comfort over my time with You in the morning.  I ask for Your strength to be made perfect in my many weaknesses.  Help me, Lord, to be faithful and obedient.  In Jesus' name, amen.

to remain uneffected by the circumstances, that is the goal...they change, He remains the same.
