Psalm 51
"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise." Psalm 51:17
"See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter." 2 Cor 7:11It is a great comfort to know that this trial, which has produced in me a broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart have not been in vain. God does not despise my brokenness. In fact, He uses it to produce in me an eagerness to clear myself, indignation and alarm over my sin, a longing and readiness for freedom.
Lord, I thank You for my brokenness. I trust You with it. Use it, O God, to produce real and lasting change in me. In Jesus' name, amen.
